Alternus Sustainable Arts Initiative was established to foster sustainability in the arts by supporting artists and providing them with a platform to share their work. Artists are tasked with creating art with recycled or repurposed materials. Winning artists receive a financial reward and all artwork is displayed on the initiative’s website. The physical artwork will be displayed in Alternus’ offices and partner offices around the world.

The Alternus Sustainable Arts Initiative was established in 2022 as a tangible application of Alternus’ sustainability policy.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and this initiative was founded to demonstrate our commitment to a sustainable future.
As a company we wanted to ensure that we are actively supporting artists whose work aligns with our values, and to encourage innovative thinking; particularly around the creative reuse and recycling of solar panels.
We collaborate with art students by challenging them to create original works using decommissioned solar panels as their primary medium.
Each year, participants are asked to respond to a specific UN Sustainable Development Goal. This annual challenge encourages creative expression, environmental awareness, and innovation at the intersection of art and sustainability.
